Bias

It feels sometimes like it's impossible to feel.
Everyone else is either really a patriot, or a liar.
Wherever I go the problems are truly real.
If I ignore it am I abiding or fanning the fire?

Nostalgia is a diagnosable state of mind.
I wish so many old folks wouldn't pretend
Youths were morally grounded in times behind.
I hope later I don't care if the things I know end.

I hope we stop wasting money on our yards,
Filling them with grass, which gives nothing back.
I see problems nobody else does, the bastards.
They're so busy with planning verbal attacks.

It's distressing to me when the left and the right
conflate their gripes with a superior ethical system,
and turning a caucus into an ad hominem fight,
both sides refuse to listen to the other's problems.

When both parties get together to honor their country,
I wonder if they would honor it by casting judgment
upon it or if that would be something rather more cunty.
Because nationalism is straightforward and hellbent.

Nationalism can be described in one patriotic sentence:
"America is the greatest country and is blessed by God."
Unless you're from anywhere except the US,
In which case insert that country's name instead.
